Candidates Forum

A message from UCR Students:

Lecturers, librarians, and Senate Faculty members and friends:

UCR student organizations are sponsoring a candidate forum next Tuesday evening Oct. 16 from 7-9:30pm in HUB 302.
Please announce to your students via Blackboard and other means and incorporate into classroom assignments, as relevant.

We are giving each candidate about 5 min to talk about themselves and their race. After each candidate speaks we will ask each candidate two questions. They will have time at the end to approach the students individually and speak to them one on one.

 So far we have:

  • Jose Medina, candidate for state assembly.
  • Richard Roth, candidate for state senate.
  • Kevin Jeffries, candidate for Riverside County Supervisor, 1st district.
  • Ed Adkison, candidate for mayor of Riverside.
  • Rusty Bailey, candidate for mayor of Riverside.
  • Mark Takano, candidate for Congress – 41st District.

If you could offer extra credit to your students to attend this event it would be greatly appreciated. We will be handing out wristbands to each attendee.

Thanks for your interest!

Teach the budget!

This document provides detailed and readily accessible information about the devastating effects of the vicious - and unneccessary! -  budget cuts to California's public Colleges and Universities over the last few years.

The point-by-point format makes it suitable for use as a teaching module, as well as for talking points in debating the issue.

Unit 18 bargaining survey still open

We have only 15 responses so far from UCR union members on the Unit 18 bargaining survey.  The statewide Council meeting, where bargaining priorities will be discussed, is this Saturday.  And bargaining starts next month.   So speak now - the link is still open, and it only takes a couple of minutes to complete.
